Seminole State Golf Travels to Jacksonville

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida - The Seminole State Women's Golf team will step up its competition on Monday and Tuesday, competing against several NCAA Division I Schools. Daytona State College will also be participating, the only NJCAA Team to beat the Raiders in the last 4 years.

Coach Christa Teno commented, "it's a fun course. Looking forward to see how the team figures out how to score. Every week we are learning."

The event runs two days, October 2nd and 3rd, preceeded with a practice round on Sunday. The field includes 15 schools from six different states. Competing with Seminole State this year are Bethune-Cookman, Charleston Southern, Daytona State, Flagler, Florida Atlantic, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Jacksonville, Jacksonville State, Lipscomb, Stetson, UAB, USC Upstate and Xavier.

  • The 2017 team finished 2nd at the NJCAA Championships in Duluth, GA
  • Seminole State Golf has finished in the top 3 in the Nation for the last 6 years
  • The team has two starters from last year's squad, plus one red-shirt sophomore and four incoming freshmen

About the Seminole State Raiders:

The Raider Athletics Department of Seminole State College was established in 1965 and initially led by Athletic Director and Head Basketball Coach Joe Sterling. Seminole State currently sponsors three sports all members of the NJCAA. Both Baseball and Softball facilities are located on College Drive on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus.  Kurt Esser is the current Athletic Director.

Women's Golf Christa Teno was recently named the LPGA National Collegiate Coach of the year. Teno was inducted into the NJCAA Hall of Fame in 2017. Her team is currently ranked #1 in the country.
