GAINESVILLE, Florida - Coach Ocky Clark stated after Saturday's Mountain Dew Invite that he just wished he had more Student-Athletes. "Our kids are really improving and it is fun to see them getting better." To reinforce the notion that the kids are improving, all seven Seminole State runners (5 on the women's and 2 on the men's team) set PRs (personal records).

Another measure of the women's team getting better is their second out of five FCSAA teams finish.  Pasco Hernando won the group and is the clear favorite for the FCSAA meet in Tallahassee in a few weeks. The Raiders finished 24th out of 27 teams, defeating Florida Gateway (25th), South Florida State (26th) and Florida State College of Jacksonville (27th). SSC had an average finish time of 22:26.77. As a comparison, the average finishing time for the Raiders in their first meet was 25:00.00. Sara Kopack (21:07.72) once again was tops for Seminole State, placing 171st out of 270 runners from 27 total teams (22 of these teams were four-year schools). Jaina Hawkins (21:28.28) finished 188th; Abby Orlando (22:21.69) 210th; Fancy Cheruyot (22:41.86) 217th and Jaimee Leduc (24:34.29) 245th rounded out the Raiders line up over the 5K course at the Mark Bostic Golf Course.

On the men's side, once again it was the Hillary (Kandie) and Yassin (Raffay) show. The two Raiders finished 30th and 32nd (respectively) overall. Hillary ran the 8K in 25:53.21 and Yassin in 25:53.52. Both ran over 27 minutes in the season opener.

The teams travel back to Lakeland on Saturday, September 29th for the Flrunners.com Invitational 19. The regular season will wrap up in Tallahassee on October 12 with the Florida State Invite.
