Originally, from New Orleans, Louisiana Bruce Larkins graduated from De La Salle High School in 1998.  After a standout senior season he received several honors including All-District and All-State awards.  That earned him a scholarship to attend Enterprise State Junior College in Enterprise, Alabama. During his sophomore season he only committed six errors while playing in 50 games at shortstop.  After two years at ESJC, he then transferred to Thomas University in Thomasville, Georgia, where he helped lead the Night Hawks to their first national recognition.  His Junior season saw Larkins hit .369 with ten doubles and three homeruns. After a brief stint with the Baton Rouge River Bats, an independent professional baseball team, he returned to Thomas University to serve as a student assistant until he graduated with his degree in Business Management.  Upon graduation, Coach Larkins moved to Lakeland, Florida and earned his teaching certificate in Mathematics Education.  Along with teaching for four years, he served as the Head JV/Varsity Assistant Coach at Kathleen High School.

In 2007 Coach Larkins made the jump to coach junior college baseball and was named the Head Assistant Coach at Lake City Community College.  Because of budget cuts handed down from the state, LCCC decided to disband all athletic programs effective at the conclusion of the 2008 season.

Coach Larkins was then hired at Santa Fe College as the Recruiting Coordinator, Hitting and Infield coach. Santa Fe College saw the best year in school’s history in 2009, winning the Conference, State, and Regional Championships.  The Saints also finished as National Runners-Up.  During his five years at Santa Fe, approximately 50 players signed with 4-year schools or signed professional contracts.  The Saints were also ranked in the Top 25 those 5 years including the #1 ranking for most of 2011.

In August 2013, Coach Larkins accepted the Recruiting Coordinator position at Pensacola State College in Pensacola, FL.  In three seasons at Pensacola, Coach Larkins help bring the Pirates back to State and National recognition.  They held a #5 ranking in the State and a #25 ranking with the NJCAA in the Spring of 2015. 

The summer of 2016 saw Coach Larkins join NCAA Division 2 Flagler College staff in St. Augustine, FL.  He helped guide the Saints to a 31-24 record and a third place finish in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. The Saints spent most of the 2017 season as a NCAA Top 25 team.

Throughout his coaching career, Coach Larkins’ players have enjoyed much success. He has coached three All-Americans, three Conference Players of the Year, five Academic All-Americans, nine FCSAA All-State Players, and 56 All-Conference players. He coached four teams that went on to win conference championships and six teams that were ranked nationally. Coach Larkins has seen 14 players drafted by Major League Baseball, one of which is currently playing in the National League (Brewers) and three playing in the American League (Indians, Rays, Orioles).

Larkins earned his bachelor’s degree from Thomas University in Business Management and his master’s degree from Grand Canyon University in the Arts of Teaching. 

Coach Larkins joined the staff at Seminole State College in June 2017 and will assume the duties as Recruiting Coordinator and Hitting Coach.  He will also work with infielders, and will assume the role of third base coach. He resides in Altamonte Springs with his wife, Aleasha, and two sons, Tripp (9) and Braylon (5).
