OVIEDO, Florida - On a very hot late September afternoon, the Seminole State Cross Programs continued to show why the future is bright. With a healthy men's team, the Raiders took the top three spots and five of the top 12 to easily defeat second place Daytona State.

Yassin Raffay was (again) tops for SSC, winning the 5k race with a time of 16:02.31 followed by Hillary Kandie, second (16:31.56). Freshman Canaan St. Lewis and Sophomore Amari Douglas both returned for Seminole and placed third (16:35.21) and seventh (17:09.32) respectively. James Sellers (17:23.17) collected a 12th place finish followed by Marckoz Arias in 16th (17:46.30) and Matthew Labrato (18:23.14) finished 25th.

On the ladies side, Sylvia Jelimo Loreto (20:59.48) won her first collegiate meet and led Seminole to a second place overall finish. Sara Kopack (21:28.07) placed fourth and Derartu Berrios ran sixth (22:17.34), a reversal of the finishes at the ERAU Asics Classic with both runners shaving close to a minute off their previous time. Fancy Cheruyot  (23:29.49) placed 14th and Lisanne Verschuuren  (23:30.71) was 15th, with both runners also trimming significant time off of their time from last week.

Seminole State will recover, rest and train for the FCSAA/NJCAA Regional meet in Tallahassee on October 25th.
