Raider Softball Garners Academic Honors

LOUISVILLE, KY — The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its academic honors on October 2nd. Once again, the Seminole State Raider Softball Team earned accolades. The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association’s membership categories. NCAA Division III led the way with 1,928 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2018-19. NCAA Division I and Division II followed with 1,769 and 1,306 honorees. High School weighted and High School unweighted earned 1,225 and 793 distinctions. NAIA and two-year programs each amassed 570 recipients.

Seminole State College placed 12th in the nation with a 3.48 and had 9 student-athletes earn Academic All-American status with a 3.5 or above (see list link above).

RAIDER NOTES:

  • Coach Miller won her 1,000 career game on March 17, 2018. The program is three games shy of 1,000.
  • The 2019 team finished 46-17 (including 22-2 at home) and has won 151 games over the previous three seasons
  • The Raiders have qualified for 17 consecutive FCSAA State Tournaments
  • Seminole State will serve as host of the NJCAA Region 8 Tournament May 8-11, 2020 at Boombah Soldiers Creek

About the Seminole State Raiders:  The Raider Athletics Department of Seminole State College was established in 1965 and initially led by Athletic Director and Head Basketball Coach Joe Sterling. Seminole State now sponsors five sports all competing in the NJCAA Division I.

Warren is a Sophomore golfer from Lakewood Ranch, FL. In three events this fall she has finished T9, T6 and T25 for the Raiders. An All-American in 2018-19, Warren has committed to Florida Gulf Coast University.
