SANFORD, Florida - After a soggy start to the Raider Spring Break Tournament on Tuesday, the Seminole State Women's Golf team had a narrow lead over NCAA Division I foe Florida Atlantic. The Raiders would need to continue to grind to once again take their home event. Day two had a brilliant sun, but temps were still very cool. Grind they did and carded a 618 as a team, besting second place FAU by seven strokes

The weather was a challenge, and so was Timacuan Golf course. The greens were firm and fast. All of this led to an unexpected medalist. Alex Giles (right) won her first collegiate tournament. Giles went 72, 74 for a 146 total. Rounding out the SSC scores:

  • Tai Anudit 76, 75 = 151
  • Sophia Warren 79, 80 = 159
  • Nicole Stewart 83, 81 = 164
  • Maria Cowan 81, 83 = 164
  • Sam Brimhall (individual) 81, 77 = 158
  • Brigitte Clements (individual) 81, 96 = 177

Seminole State is now off to the BCU Lady Cat Invitational on Thursday and Friday. While not on the Hills Course, site of the NJCAA National Championships, the BCU event is at LPGA International.
