OCALA, Florida - The #4 Raiders (49-13) dropped both games to #9 St. Petersburg College (25-23) 4-3 and 1-0 on Thursday night in Clearwater.  Both teams finished up regular season play and will be playing in the FCSAA Region 8 State Tournament next week in Longwood. The Raiders just could not get any offense going all night.

Game 1

SSC left 11 runners on base, including leaving the bases loaded in the 2nd and 3rd innings. The Raiders took a 1-0 lead in the second, when St. Pete walked a run in with the bases loaded. The Titans tied the game in the bottom of the 3rd when a misplayed ball with 2 outs allowed a run to score. But the big blow came in the 5th inning for the Raiders. After a single and an error by the defense, the Titans took the lead on a single to right. They scored another run on a sacrifice fly and plated their 4th run on a 2 out single up the middle to take a 4-1 lead. SSC cut the lead to 4-2 in the 6th. Meghan Sexton hit a 2 out double and came home on a single by pinch hitter Gabby Ekberg. The Raiders put together a rally in the 7th, but left runners at second and third.

Kyra Gipson (23-7) took the loss. She pitched 5 innings, allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits. Gabi LoPresti pitched the 6th, giving up 0 runs on 3 hits.

The offense was led by Sexton ( 2-3, 2B, RBI), Haley Hinz ( 2-3) and Gipson ( 2-3, 2B, RBI).

Game 2

The same story played out in game 2, as the Raiders were limited to only 4 hits in the game. The lone run by both teams scored in the bottom of the second. After 2 quick outs, the Titans strung together 3 singles and going up 1-0. Twice in the late innings, SSC had a runner at 3B with only 1 out, but could never get a clutch hit. Kasey Trickey was 2-3, while Chelsea Peace hit a triple and Kelsi Smith a single to have the only hits of the game.

Tatiana Rodriguez (4-2) took the loss.  She gave up 1 run on 4 hits and struck out 2 in 4 innings of work. Kiana East pitched the final 2 innings, allowing 0 runs on 3 hits.
